SKIN TAG REMOVAL
Treatment Overview
Skin tags appear as tiny bits of “hanging” skin, they generally occur at the sites where clothing rubs against the skin or where there is skin-to-skin friction.
Skin tags are found near the areas- eyelids, axillae (armpits), back, under the breasts, groin, upper chest as well as neck. These skin tags appear most often in women more often those who are going through weight gain and in the elderly people. The skin tags usually don’t cause any kind of pain, but still they can become irritated if anything rubs them (like clothing or jewelry).
Causes of Skin Tags
The skin tags are usually very common and are often seen in:
Diabetes
Overweight and obese, most probably as they have more skin folds and creases
Suffering from human papilloma virus (HPV)
Pregnant women due to the high secretion of hormonesIllegal use of steroid as they interfere with the body and the muscles while causing the collagen fibers in the skin to bond and allowing the skin tags to be formed.
Does Skin Tags come back ?
The treatment will permanently remove the skin tag. However, this will not stop skin tags growing back in other areas in the future.
Does Skin Tag removal leave a scar?
Excision removal will leave a small white or pink scar. There is a possibility of scarring and discoloration occurring.
How is the treatment done at Dr.JD&Co:
Electrocautery - in which an electric probe or needle is used to burn off the skin tag.
Course of treatment
It is important to note that for most treatments, the final results are visible around 2 weeks post-procedure. Meaning, we encourage you to remain patient during this time before making a final judgment.
That being said, each body is unique and, therefore, the biological PH balance and metabolic rate vary between clients. Results cannot be compared, predicted, or guaranteed. Should you need any follow-up appointments or have questions, please contact Dr.JD’s assistant at info@drjd.co.uk.

Skin Tags are small growths of skin that hang from the surrounding skin by a narrow stalk. They are often unsightly and can appear anywhere on the body but are very easy to remove.
FAQ
-
Skin tags are made of loose collagen fibres and blood vessels surrounded by skin. Collagen is a type of protein found throughout the body.
Both men and women can develop skin tags. They tend to occur in older people and people who are obese or have type 2 diabetes.
Pregnant women may also be more likely to develop skin tags as a result of changes in their hormone levels. Some people develop them for no apparent reason.
Skin tags tend to grow in the skin folds, where the skin rubs against itself, such as on the neck, armpits or groin. This is why they tend to affect overweight people who have excess folds of skin and skin chafing.

Skin tags are small, soft, skin-coloured growths on your skin. They can vary in colour and size – from a few millimetres up to 5cm wide.
Skin tags are usually found on the neck, armpits, around the groin, or under the breasts. They can also grow on the eyelids or under the folds of the buttocks.
They can look like warts, but skin tags are usually:
smooth and soft (warts tend to be rougher with an irregular surface)
knobbly and hang off the skin (warts are usually slightly raised or flat)
not contagious (warts spread very easily, so a sudden outbreak or cluster of growths is more likely to be warts)
